Officers dispatched about 12:40 a.m. to a shooting call at the Godfey Hotel and Cabanas, 7700 Courtney Campbell Causeway Blvd., found a 25-year-old man bleeding from a gunshot wound, according to Tampa police. The shooter, described by police as a man in his early 20s, had already fled the scene.
Officers used a hair dryer’s power cord as a makeshift tourniquet to stop the man’s bleeding. At one point, the man had no pulse and officers performed CPR until he was able to breathe on his own. Tampa Fire Rescue arrived and took the man to a local hospital, where he was recovering after surgery, police said.
Investigators believe the man and the suspect knew each other and had a heated argument earlier in the evening, police said.
Detectives asked anyone with information on the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 873-8477.
